Biographical / Historical
Edgar Dorsett Moore was born in Globe, N.C. in 1897 and moved to Charlotte in 1931. He and his wife, Geraldine McPheeters Moore, moved into the F. O. Hawley House at 923 Elizabeth Avenue in 1944 (see survey and research report on the Hawley house, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission Reports). There, Moore also set up his dental practice, eventually constructing a separate office building in front of his home. In 1964, Moore converted the house into the Edmor Motor Inn and moved to Sunset Drive. He died in Charlotte in 1976.
