Biographical / Historical
Virginia Caroline Goodwin was born near Raleigh, N.C., on March 17, 1847. In 1865, she married William Henry Roundy, a Canadian mercenary who served in the Union Army. They met when he accepted a job on Goodwin's father's plantation near Raleigh.
