Biographical / Historical

The National Caucus of Labor Committees was founded in 1968 by supporters of Lyndon LaRouche in New York City. The organization promoted a socialist agenda and advocated for the complete restructuring of the economic system in America. LaRouche advocated for programmatic socialism, a philosophy that encouraged socialist thinkers to create practical plans for taking over and running the government of the United States.

By the early 1970s, the ideology of the group had changed and the NCLC was accused of consorting with hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan and many of the older members resigned. During this period, LaRouche began running for president under the political arm of the NCLC and declared himself a candidate in every election from 1976 to 2004. The continued criminal activities of the NCLC resulted in federal raids and arrests during the 1980s and LaRouche was eventually convicted of fraud and obstruction of justice in 1989 and sent to prison, where he remained until his release in 1994. LaRouche died in 2019 at the age of 96 but the NCLC continues to operate throughout the world.
