Scope and Contents
The collection consists almost entirely of photocopies of original documents (mostly letters, newspaper and magazine articles and photographs) concerning the H.H. Everett family and the Henderson Belk family. The earliest documents date back to 1886, and span to 1971. Most of the collection dates from 1927.
The connection between these two prominent Charlotte families occurred in 1949 when Ann Everett (daughter of Herschel Hill Everett) married Henderson Belk.
A sizable part of the collection consists of photocopies of newspaper and magazine articles of the history of these two families and the contributions that they made to the Charlotte community.

The collection consists of photocopies of documents pertaining to two prominent families in Charlotte, NC: the Belks and the Everetts. Most of the collection consists of correspondence with Herschel Hill Everett, his daughter, Ann, and her husband, Henderson Belk.
Arrangement
The collection is arranged into five series, they are: Correspondence and Papers (1880-1971), Undated Materials, Genealogical Notes, Newspaper and Magazine articles and Photographs - Photocopies (1940-1980).
Immediate Source of Acquisition
The UNC Charlotte Special Collections acquired this collection from Mrs. Ann Everett Belk in February of 2003.
General
This collection is made up entirely of photocopies of original documents, made in February of 2003. After photocopying, the originals were returned to Mrs. Ann Everett Belk.
