Scope and Contents
Taped interviews with twelve Mecklenburg County (N.C.) Commission Chairs, each accompanied by biographical material and rough transcripts. These made up the WTVI series, Commission Chair interviews, which include interviews with Mecklenburg County Commission Chairs and their wives. Rod Autrey and Fountain Odom were interviewed together. There are two VHS tapes for their interview, one labeled Odom and Autrey and the other Autrey and Odom (Same audio, different camera angles). The same is true with tapes labeled Ann Schrader with Carla Dupuy, who were interviewed together. Commission chairs interviewed: Tom Bush, H. Parks Helms, Ann Schrader, T. LaFontine "Fountain" Odom, Ed Peacock, T. Rodney "Rod" Autrey, Carla E. DuPuy, Liz Hair, Peter A. Foley, Tom Ray, James G. Martin, and Charles M. Lowe. There are also two additional tapes, "Charlotte and the New South: A Region at Work," and "Charlotte and the New South: Growing a Region."

VHS tapes of television interviews with Mecklenburg County Commission chairpersons produced by Charlotte, NC area public tv station, WTVI42 in the 1990s. The series of interviews aired titled, "Mr. and Madam Chairman." Interviews are accompanied by biographical material and a rough transcript. Also includes two hour-long broadcasts from the "Charlotte and the New South" series ("A Region at Work" and "Growing a Region.")
The collection is arranged into the following two series: Charlotte and the New South and Commission Chair Interviews.
