Scope and Contents Includes three drafts (4/12/1864, with transcripts) of a letter to Goodwin from David R. Autry, a Confederate soldier stationed at Camp Holmes in Raleigh, in which he attempts to persuade Goodwin to marry him. In one draft (leaf 2, side 1) Autry comments on the Confederate Army's dwindling supplies and questions the motives of the Southern "statesmen" in continuing the war; two poems (n.d., with transcripts), "I will pray for peace again" and "I am glad I am."
