Historical Note
The Department of Political Science and Public Administration began at UNC Charlotte in 1965 as the department of History and Political Science. In 1968 the departments split and Political Science became its own department in the Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences (later, the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences). In 1980 the department became part of the College of Arts and Sciences, which became the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 2008. The department was merged with Public Administration in 2012 and received its current name: the Department of Political Science and Public Administration.
