Scope and Contents A small collection of correspondence and clippings. One folder of correspondence comprises responses to an Op-Ed piece published by Barret in the Charlotte Observer, October 1994, titled "Gay lifestyle? What do you mean?" Correspondence also includes a typed note signed by Coretta Scott King accepting Barret's invitation to speak at the Lovett School where Barret was Dean of Students.
Overview Charlotte Pride presents the annual lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and queer (LGBTQ) Pride festival and other events in the Queen City. The annual festival is the largest LGBTQ Pride event in the Carolinas. The bulk of the collection documents Pride Festivals held in Charlotte, including planning materials and guides to the events. Also included are promotional materials, memorabilia, and ephemera from the more recent Pride festivals.
