John A. Tennant papers

Overview Papers of the editor and publisher of The Photo-Miniature (1899-1935), an early photography magazine. Contains advertisements, correspondence, Tennant's reminiscences on the development of photography during his lifetime, programs of cultural events in New York City (1905-55), and other ephemera, primarily reflecting Tennant's interests in music, travel, and Roman Catholicism.

Textile Mill Supply Company records

Overview Records (mostly minute books and books of stock certificates) of the Textile Mill Supply Company, the Industrial and Hardware Supply Company, and the Industrial and Textile Supply Company, of Charlotte, NC from 1898 to 1997. The collection also includes records of the TMS Realty Company, whose purpose was to administer the land holdings of its parent company.

Richard Elton Thigpen papers

Overview Primarily photocopied material relating to Thigpen's work as Mecklenburg County manager for Willis Smith in the 1950 U.S. Senate campaign. Includes a scrapbook of clippings. Also includes a report (1958) of the Study Committee for City-County School Consolidation.

William Boyce and Mary Neal Overcash Thompson papers

Overview Thompson was a decorated pilot in WWII, shot down and buried in Europe. His wife, Mary Neal Overcash, later married again to Joseph R. Sparling, Jr. This small collection includes correspondence, financial papers, biographical material about Thompson, rationing supplies, and papers about the Overcash family.

Nancy Tilly papers

Overview Papers relating to her novel, Golden Girl (New York: Farrar, Straus, Giroux, 1985), which won the 1986 Juvenile Literature Award presented by the North Carolina division of the American Association of University Women. Includes drafts, correspondence with and notes of her editor, pages and galley proofs, and cassette recordings of the author reading her work. The earliest draft (1979) includes notes made by novelist Lee Smith, in whose class Tilly began the work.
